Lakefront
Row, Row, Row your boat….and more!!!
Waterski, Windsurf, Sail, Canoe, Kayak, Fish, Swim and Slide.
The first thing visitors notice when arriving at the lakefront at Camp Danbee is THE SLIDE!!! The 100-foot long slide dominates our lakefront and provides the best way to enter the warm water of Lake Ashmere. The slide has proven to be a hit for everyone at camp – we even let parents try it out on visiting day!
We own a mile of shoreline on beautiful, spring-fed Lake Ashmere. Red Cross certified instructors give campers an instructional and fun opportunity to enjoy boating and waterskiing. Danbee’s lakefront program features many challenging and enjoyable program areas.
Water Skiing
The ski program features four Malibu inboard power boats, offering girls a chance to waterski, wakeboard and barefoot. We start teaching our girls to waterski at the youngest ages – whether six or fifteen, our campers can learn to waterski at camp. For new skiers, a teaching “boom” (a bar that is fitted to the side of the boat) provides a steady grip that helps build self-confidence and success while learning to ski. Danbee’s talented instructors help girls of all abilities improve their skills. No wonder waterskiing is a favorite activity at Danbee!
Sailing
Danbee girls learn to tack, furl, come about, and skipper with Danbee’s fleet of sunfish sailboats. Red Cross certified instructors teach sailors to understand and use the wind while skimming across the waters of Lake Ashmere. Each summer girls can participate in the annual Berkshire Cup Regatta, sailing against campers from all of the summer camps in our area. A beginner or a more advanced sailor finds a home on our lake.
Boating
Campers also are able to try out their talents with our other lake programs, including: Canoeing, Kayaking, Fishing, Paddle Boarding and Windsurfing. Our younger campers rotate through the boating program areas at the lakefront. They experience all of the different offerings and are able to develop a love of these activities that they can participate in for life. Older campers are able to choose a specific activity. Whether they want to improve their skills or just enjoy being out on the water, the lakefront is a special place for all Danbee campers!
