The first thing you will notice when you arrive at the lakefront at Camp
Danbee is THE SLIDE!!! The 100-foot long slide dominates our lakefront and provides the best way to enter the warm water of Lake
Ashmere. New in 2004, the slide has proven to be a hit for everyone at
camp – we even let parents try it out on visiting day!
The slide is not the only reason that our campers love the lakefront
at Danbee. We have a mile of shoreline on beautiful, spring-fed Lake
Ashmere. Red Cross certified instructors give campers an instructional
and fun opportunity to enjoy boating and waterskiing. Our lakefront program
features many challenging and enjoyable program areas.
Our ski program with four Malibu inboard
power boats offers girls a chance to waterski, wakeboard and barefoot. We start teaching our girls to waterski at the
youngest ages – whether you are six or fifteen you will be able
to waterski two times a week. Danbee’s talented instructors help
girls of all abilities improve their skills. For new skiers, a teaching "boom"
(a bar that is fitted to the side of the boat) provides a steady grip
that helps build self-confidence and success while learning to ski. More
advanced skiers can learn routines to take part in our annual waterski
tournament or join our instructors early in the morning to experience
barefoot skiing on the glass-like lake surface. No wonder waterskiing
is a favorite activity at Danbee!
Learn to tac, furl, come about, and skipper
one of Danbee's fleet of sunfish and puffer sail boats. Experienced instructors
teach you to understand and use the wind while you skim across the waters
of Lake Ashmere. Each summer girls can participate in the annual Berkshire
Cup Regatta, sailing against campers from all of the summer camps in our
area. Whether you are a beginner or more advanced sailor you will find
a home in our lake.
Campers will also be able to try out their
talents with our other lake programs, including: Canoeing,
Kayaking, Fishing and Windsurfing.
Our younger campers rotate through the various program areas at the lakefront.
They experience all of the different offerings
and are able to develop a love of these activities that they can participate
in for life. Older campers are able to choose a specific activity. Whether
they want to improve their skills or just enjoy being out on the water,
the lakefront is a special place for all Danbee campers!
